The HR and Payroll Administrator will provide efficient and accurate administrative support to the HR and Payroll functions ensuring high quality service delivery across the employee lifecycle. The post holder will frequently act as the first point of contact for a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders. They will be an enthusiastic and resourceful team-player with the ability to operate discreetly and develop a customer focused approach. Key Responsibilities

Maintain and update employee records, ensuring all information is accurate, compliant and stored appropriately within HR systems and personnel files.

Provide day to day administrative support to the HR and Payroll functions, assisting with the smooth delivery of payroll processes and HR operations.

Input, update and validate data within the HR and payroll systems, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail at all times.

Prepare and issue employment documentation including variation letters, company sick pay expiry letters, SSP1 forms and other standard correspondence.

Support the onboarding process, including the creation of new starters on the HR and Payroll system and tracking onboarding documentation such as starter checklists and signed contracts.

Monitor and track probation periods and other key compliance requirements, escalating where necessary.

Check and monitor Return to Work interviews and absence records to ensure compliance with policy.

Assist with processing payroll changes and support the Payroll Manager with administrative payroll tasks.

Manage HR and Payroll inboxes, responding to queries in a timely and professional manner, escalating where appropriate.

Draft, issue, and maintain accurate employment contracts for new starters, ensuring all documentation is precise and compliant at all times.

Monitor and maintain internal staff right-to-work documentation, ensuring records are accurate and compliant with employment regulations.

Assist the HR and Payroll Data Coordinator with redacting information for Subject Access Requests and responding to Freedom of Information requests as needed.

Provide general administrative support to the HR team, including notetaking and ad hoc project work.

Support with the administration of employee benefits, such as occupational health referrals and general HR processes.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential Criteria

GCSE in English and Maths or relevant experience

Previous administrative experience

Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy when handling data and documentation

Good organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities

Experience of using IT systems, such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Effective communication skills, both written and verbal

Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team

A proactive and flexible approach, with a willingness to support a range of administrative tasks
Desirable Criteria

Experience of using HR and Payroll Systems

Experience of working in an education or public sector environment

Experience of working in a HR or Payroll Function
