WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Payroll Specialist to lead and manage the payroll and pension operations for over 30 companies within the Jonas Europe portfolio. While this role primarily focuses on UK payroll, it also offers growing exposure to European payroll operations.

You will be responsible for ensuring full compliance with all UK payroll legislation, statutory requirements, HMRC submissions, and pension regulations, maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and confidentiality.

This role is a key part of our central finance team, which operates remotely across the UK and Pakistan. UK and Republic of Ireland (ROI) payroll processing is outsourced to Moorepay, and European payroll is managed through a network of international payroll providers.

ROLE RESPONSIBILTILES:

  • Oversee the processing of monthly payroll and pensions for circa 650 employees across 30+ companies within the Jonas Europe Portfolio

  • Lead and support the payroll administrators based in Pakistan

  • Liaise with our UK and International outsourced payroll providers

  • Work closely with Business Unit Leaders and HR to ensure the accuracy of data flow

  • Prepare payroll reports and analysis for Finance Business Partners and other internal stakeholders

  • Ensure payroll costs are correctly allocated between entities and manage intercompany recharges

  • Reconcile payroll and pension control accounts monthly

  • Resolve employee payroll queries and discrepancies in a timely manner

  • Liaise with HMRC, pension providers, and other third parties as required

  • Ensure compliance with HMRC on PAYE/NIC, RTI, P11D submissions and year-end processes

  • Maintain pension scheme administration, reconcile pension contributions and the auto-enrolment process

  • Support with audits and internal reporting

  • Support with the payroll on-boarding and integration process of new acquisitions

  • Stay updated on UK payroll best practices and legislative changes affecting payroll and pensions operations

  • Implement system and process improvements.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Demonstrated experience in processing UK payroll

  • Proven knowledge of European payroll practices

  • Experience in leading and supervising a small payroll team

  • Background in a comparable payroll role

  • Experience collaborating with or managing outsourced payroll service providers across the UK and/or Europe.

DEMONSTRATABLE PRE-REQUISITES

  • CIPP qualified or qualified by experience

  • Proficient in payroll software and MS Excel.
