Job Overview:

The Senior Principal Payroll Specialist is tasked with solving unique and complex problems that broadly impact the business. They must proactively identify and solve the most complex problems that impact the management and direction of the business. The Senior Principal Payroll Specialist is considered a specialist in the field of Payroll, and they offer a broad base of knowledge about the Finance function. The Senior Principal Payroll Specialist impacts the direction and resource allocation of programs and projects in their discipline and works within general functional policies and industry guidelines. The Senior Principal Payroll Specialist role requires conceptual and innovative thinking to develop creative solutions to Payroll challenges.

It is preferable for the candidate to be CIPP (Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals) qualified.

Responsibilities

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for Payroll activities, including managing timely processing of payroll, ensuring that all payroll activities are performed accurately and within the agreed timelines and in compliance with applicable policies and procedures  
  • Handle employee and business partner queries (HR, Finance, Tax)
  • Compile reports on base and premium pay
  • Provide wage information and other information as needed
  • Communicate with the assigned clients
  • Support our internal and external customers that have payroll inquiries
  • Provide timely and effectively communicated responses to internal and external inquiries and support various internal and external special projects and audits relating to Payroll
  • Analyze and process off-cycle pay, special payments, adjustments, and reversals
  • Determine the root cause of payroll errors by collecting and analyzing information under strict deadlines
  • Ensure all errors and issues are being resolved promptly
  • Calculate, process, and record overpayment repayments


Qualifications

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, or related field
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent preferable
  • Minimum 140 years of finance experience with knowledge of all aspects of payroll processing
  • Deep knowledge of international statutory taxes, benefits, and other withholdings and the pre/post tax treatment
  • Must know all aspects of payroll
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and -related software
  • Experience in working with HR on process improvements projects
  • Working knowledge of company policies and procedures related to Payroll
  • Responsible for changes and improvements to the payroll process
  • Familiar with timekeeping systems and interfaces between Timekeeping, Payroll, and General Ledger posting of payroll
  • Experience managing a team of 10 or more team members
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), ability to multi-task and meet multiple deadlines
  • Strong analytical and presentation skills
