Description

 

Position Overview:  

The primary purpose of this position is to oversee the daily activities of the Payroll and delivery operation. This position provides operational direction and leadership to all associates supporting delivery requirements.  Encourages and enables personal and professional growth of all hourly associates.  This position will be responsible for overseeing fleet requirements and work with our third-party provider on timely repair of all equipment.  


Key Accountabilities: 

  • Maintain Time and Labor records for all Union Employees: includes all job changes, premium codes, breaks, missing punches, and inputting all time off details, and all other miscellaneous details 
  • Review and Approve all payroll requests and timesheets of direct reports in a timely manner 
  • Review & Approve supervisors and office support timesheets no later than Friday 5:00pm for all weekly and bi-weekly employees 
  • Review and Approve all Union Employees Time Sheets no later than Monday Morning 8:00am 
  • Ensure a safe and clean workplace to avoid injuries and handle Workers Compensation matters for employees injured on the job 
  • Establish priorities and ensure compliance 
  • Establish and maintain daily production schedule 
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of OSHA regulations 
  • Ensuring appropriate staffing levels and operating schedules to meet delivery requirements and schedules 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment 
  • Meet established sales, customer service and delivery expectations 
  • Maintain staffing and equipment needs for the operation 
  • Train and develop drivers and helpers for the delivery operation 
  • Interface with Customers and Salesmen to resolve delivery issues as they come up 
  • Position supports both inbound and outbound transportation teams as needed 
  • Work closely with Operations Manager and Director to ensure compliance with company and department policies and procedures; recommend improvements as needed as well as to collective bargaining agreements 
  • In consultation with Operations Manager or Director, administer disciplinary action as needed 
  • Ensure proper allocation of resources to complete daily workload in a timely and cost-efficient manner 
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of daily workload with strong focus on customer service while controlling costs 
  • Evaluate daily performance and shift resources as needed 
  • Ability to function effectively in multi-union warehouse environment 
  • Responsible for the preparation of customer delivery schedules and subsequent daily routing of orders to ensure customer service and low cost 

Additional Responsibilities: 

  • Provide back-up for delivery and or routing coverage 
  • Train, support, and coach drivers and helpers 
  • Work closely with the safety manager to support all safety initiatives 
  • Other duties as assigned 
Requirements

 Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 

  • Strong Attention to detail 
  • Ability to multi-task in a faced paced environment 

Education/Experience/Training: 

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business or Supply Chain 
  • Minimum 5 years of Supply Chain 
  • Specialized Knowledge Needed for Performance of Job: Computer skills, knowledge of Word and Excel.  In-depth knowledge of Transportation and Routing Systems 
  • Skill in conflict resolution and negotiation 
  • Skill in effective, clear oral and written communications; Ability to lead, motivate and secure performance of staff positions in achieving key performance goals
