About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Global Payroll Director. This leader will handle overall operations of EMEA and APAC payroll using both the Workday suite of tools and third-party payroll providers. In doing so, you will be encouraged to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll with strong data integrity. This is a great opportunity to help set a strategic direction for a team, mentor and develop that team.


In this role, you will:

  • Oversee payroll teams in International near shored various locations.
  • Design and implement internal controls to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately, timely and in compliance with international country and state/regional specific laws and regulations; and substantiated by sufficient set of underlying documentation and support.
  • Oversee full-cycle Payroll and HR Operations processing for 21 counties in EMEA and APAC.  
  • Recruit and develop the best-in-class talent that will be subject matter experts and points of contact for all internal and external payroll inquiries.
  • Engage and influence standards for practices and procedures of financial controls related to payroll activities
  • Review and development of control documentation for the end-to-end payroll process.
  • Identify opportunities for operating procedures with Regulatory and Compliance guidelines to substantiate audits.
  • Determine appropriate strategy on payroll team to minimize legal consequences and impact operations.
  • Coach resolution approach to organizational objectives.
  • Collaborate and influence all levels of professionals including more experienced managers.
  • Lead team to achieve business objectives.
  • Interact with internal and external customers.
  • Manage allocation of people and financial resources for payroll.
  • Develop and guide a culture of talent development to meet business objectives and strategy.
  • You will manage a team of 10-15 members


Required Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in International Payroll, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • Management or leadership experience


Desired Qualifications:

  • Extensive years of end-to-end experience in international Payroll, Payroll Tax, HR Operations and audit
  • Experience with Workday Payroll, ServiceNow, ADP Global View Payroll and CloudPay Payroll.
  • Ability to motivate staff to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to quickly establish credibility to build and maintain effective working relationships
  • Excellent presentation, verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to manage complex projects in a large enterprise environment
  • Outstanding problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Strong change management skills, technology proficiency, systems thinking and quality orientation
  • Ability to solve problems and make timely and independent decisions while working in a fast-paced and results-driven environment
  • Comfortable operating in a changing environment while demonstrating agility and flexibility
  • Advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access, and Project) skills
