The Role 

The Global Payroll Project Lead will be responsible for managing the end-to-end implementation of payroll outsourcing projects across multiple regions. This individual will collaborate cross-functionally with HR, finance, and external vendors to ensure the seamless integration and execution of outsourced payroll processes. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in payroll operations, outsourcing strategies, and project management, with a strong focus on process improvement and compliance. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Project Leadership: Lead and manage the global payroll outsourcing implementation project from initiation through to completion, ensuring all deliverables are met on time and within budget. 

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with key stakeholders across HR, finance, and in-country payroll teams to gather requirements, define project scope, align on project objectives and agree and approve the post implementation business impact. 

  • Process Improvement and Operational Readiness:  Review existing payroll processes and identify opportunities for further standardisation and greater controls, to drive efficient workflows that enhance payroll accuracy and effectiveness.  

  • Operational Readiness: Define the service delivery model for payroll global, ensuring a reduction or elimination of single person dependencies. Ensure the reporting and integrations required by the business to support strategic decision making and insights are provided by the external vendor or developed internally. 

  • Vendor Management: Liaise with the external payroll service provider, ensuring compliance with service-level agreements (SLAs) and that the provider meets operational expectations. 

  • Training and Support: Develop and conduct training sessions for HR and payroll staff on new outsourced processes, systems, and tools implemented as part of the project. 

  • Risk Management: Identify potential project risks related to outsourcing and develop mitigation plans to ensure successful project delivery and performance. 

  • Reporting and Analysis: Provide regular updates on project progress, challenges, and successes to senior management and relevant stakeholders. 

Skills: 

  • Significant experience in payroll management or outsourcing project implementation, with a focus on global payroll outsourcing. 

  • Proven track record of successfully leading payroll outsourcing implementation projects in a multinational environment. 

  • In-depth knowledge of payroll processes, outsourcing best practices, and compliance requirements across multiple jurisdictions. 

  • Strong project management skills, with experience in agile methodologies preferred. 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders. 

  • Proficiency in payroll software and tools; experience with [specific payroll system, if applicable] is a plus. 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
