We have several offices in Central and Southern England and have ambitious plans to expand our business. As part of the ongoing growth of the business, we have a new opportunity for a Group Internal Payroll Manager to join our group finance team. This is a permanent full-time role with hybrid and flexible working options. Our preference is for this role to be based in our Oxford office, but we are also open to a successful candidate being based in any Shaw Gibbs office.
The Role
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Lead and manage the internal payroll function across all Shaw Gibbs Group offices
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of multiple payrolls, consolidating group data where required
- Oversee compliance with UK payroll legislation (PAYE, NIC, pensions, statutory payments) and keep up to date with regulatory changes
- Manage year-end processes across the group (P60s, P11Ds, HMRC submissions, etc.)
- Oversee pension schemes, auto-enrolment compliance, and group benefits administration (e.g. salary sacrifice, healthcare, share schemes)
- Drive standardisation and efficiency across group payroll processes and systems
- Work closely with HR and Finance leadership to ensure payroll alignment with people and financial strategies
- Provide payroll analysis, reporting, and insights to senior leadership, including group-level cost reporting and forecasting
- Act as escalation point for complex payroll queries across the group
- Ensure strong internal controls, risk management, and readiness for internal/external audits
- Act as the group’s subject matter expert on payroll legislation, systems, and processes

About You
- Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and statutory requirements
- Experience within a professional services or accountancy firm would be desirable
- Proven experience managing multiple payrolls (ideally within a multi-site or group environment)
- Advanced payroll system knowledge, with ability to oversee group-wide systems/process integration
- Excellent organisational and project management skills
- Strong communication and stakeholder management, confident engaging with senior leadership
- High attention to detail, confidentiality, and accuracy under pressure
- Strong reporting and data analysis skills (including Excel)
- Ideally CIPP qualified (or working towards)
- Track record of driving payroll process improvements and system implementations
- Experience in managing benefits administration at group level (e.g. pensions, share schemes, salary sacrifice)
