Job Purpose
We are looking for an organised, approachable and enthusiastic HR & Payroll Coordinator to join our small, friendly HR team. Supporting approximately 400 colleagues across our manufacturing, warehouse and office teams, you will help deliver accurate monthly payroll, smooth HR administration and a positive employee experience.
Key Responsibilities
HR administration and systems
- Keep employee records and HR information in Employment Hero accurate, up to date and confidential.
- Create everyday employment documents, letters and contracts using approved Employment Hero templates.
- Help new starters get off to a great start by coordinating onboarding, inductions, probation reminders and right-to-work checks, as well as keeping leaver admin on track.
- Stay on top of everyday HR processes, including absence and training records and outstanding manager actions, and flag anything that needs extra attention. Recruitment and employee support
- Keep recruitment moving by posting roles, arranging interviews, staying in touch with candidates, preparing offers and coordinating pre-employment checks.
- Be a friendly first point of contact for everyday HR and payroll questions, bringing in the HR Business Partner or Head of HR when something is more complex.
Engagement and team activities
- Help bring employee events, charity activities, recognition ideas and internal communications to life.
- Support the Comfy Committee and other employee engagement activities, keeping actions organised and following up so things get done.
Payroll
- Help prepare and process monthly payroll for both companies in Employment Hero, making sure everything is accurate and submitted on time.
- Pull together and check hours, overtime, absence, starters, leavers and other payroll changes, including some manual inputs when needed.
- Run routine payroll checks, keep records tidy and respond to pay questions with care and without delay.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- You’ve worked in HR admin, payroll admin or another busy office role.
- You’re comfortable with numbers, confident using Excel and business systems, and good at spotting when something doesn’t look right.
- You’re organised, discreet and able to hit deadlines, especially when payroll is involved.
- You’re friendly, practical and comfortable chatting with colleagues at every level, including teams who aren’t desk-based.
- You’re ready to learn UK payroll and HR processes and take ownership of getting tasks right.
Great to have, but not a deal-breaker
- Some experience with UK payroll, such as pensions, statutory payments or timesheets.
- Experience with Employment Hero or another HR/payroll system.
- CIPD Level 3, a payroll qualification, or an interest in working towards one.
