We are hiring a Payroll Officer to join our fast-growing, multi-client payroll bureau serving the UK hospitality sector. This is not a basic processing role but a high-accountability, fast-paced bureau position where ownership, accuracy, and client confidence matter. You will take full responsibility for running payrolls end-to-end for a portfolio of hospitality clients, working within clear controls and standards while maintaining excellent client relationships. THE ROLE

As a Payroll Officer, you will take ownership of end-to-end payroll processing for a portfolio of clients. You will manage payroll cycles independently, resolve client queries, and ensure compliance standards are maintained at all times. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will contribute to delivery excellence, risk reduction, and continuous process improvement. This is a hands-on bureau role requiring pace, structure, and resilience.

WHAT YOU WILL OWN

PAYROLL DELIVERY & COMPLIANCE

• Process weekly, fortnightly, 4-weekly, and monthly payrolls accurately and on time

• Manage full payroll cycle from data collection through submission and reconciliation

• Administer PAYE, NI, pensions, statutory payments, and deductions correctly

• Maintain accurate payroll records and audit-ready documentation

• Support RTI submissions and HMRC correspondence where required

• Manage tronc schemes where applicable

CLIENT OWNERSHIP

• Act as day-to-day payroll contact for your client portfolio

• Resolve queries efficiently and professionally

• Escalate risk issues appropriately and early

• Build client trust through reliability and clear communication

PROCESS & IMPROVEMENT

• Follow established SOPs and control frameworks

• Identify recurring issues and suggest improvements

• Support payroll onboarding and client migrations

• Contribute to automation and system efficiency initiatives

ABOUT YOU

You are an experienced payroll professional who is structured, reliable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced multi-client environment. You take ownership of your payrolls and understand the responsibility that comes with handling people’s pay.

EXPERIENCE & CAPABILITY

• 5+ years payroll experience (bureau or multi-site preferred)

• Strong working knowledge of UK payroll legislation and compliance

• Experience running multiple payrolls independently

• Hospitality payroll experience (including tronc schemes) highly desirable

• Confident using payroll systems and Excel

• CIPP qualified or working towards (desirable)
