Salary: £31,000 per annum


Location: Cannock (Office-Based)

Contract Type: Full Time, Permanent

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm or 8:30am–4:30pm


Our client, a well-established accountancy practice based in Cannock, is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join their team. This is a permanent, office-based position offering a competitive salary and the opportunity to work in a supportive and professional environment.


The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering accurate, compliant, and timely payroll services to approximately 250 clients. This is a full start-to-finish role requiring strong technical knowledge, excellent organisational skills, and proven experience working within an accountancy practice.


Key Responsibilities
  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing for a portfolio of around 250 clients.
  • Submit pension contributions and ensure compliance with auto-enrolment.
  • Process and calculate CIS payments.
  • Generate and provide payroll reports to clients.
  • Administer statutory payments and deductions, including SSP, SMP, SPP, and NI.
  • Ensure accurate and timely submissions to HMRC.
  • Respond to and resolve payroll queries from clients.
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate payroll records.
  • Assist with year-end processes including P60s and P11Ds.

Candidate Requirements
  • Essential: Payroll experience gained within an accountancy practice.
  • Strong understanding of payroll legislation, pensions, and CIS requirements.
  • Proficient in Sage Line 50 Payroll.
  • Good working knowledge of Excel (including formulas and reporting).
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and client needs.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
