ABOUT YOU
We’re looking for a detail-oriented and organised Junior Payroll Officer to support the payroll team with essential day-to-day tasks. In this role, you’ll be helping with basic payroll duties, responding to emails, drafting tronc letters, and assisting with simple payroll runs. A good understanding of pensions, strong numerical skills, and confidence in using Excel are key for success in this position.

You are:
• A reliable and organised individual with a basic understanding of payroll processes and pensions.
• Confident with numbers and detail-focused, ensuring accuracy in calculations and data entry.
• Comfortable using Microsoft Excel for spreadsheets, reports, and payroll data.
• Professional and clear in written communication, especially when responding to emails or preparing employee letters.
• Discreet and trustworthy, capable of handling sensitive payroll information responsibly.
• Eager to learn and grow within a payroll environment.
What You’ll Be Doing:
• Supporting Payroll Runs: Assisting with the accurate and timely processing of simple payrolls under supervision.
• Managing Payroll Admin Tasks: Handling inboxes, answering basic payroll-related emails, and maintaining employee records.
• Preparing Tronc Letters: Drafting and issuing letters related to tronc payments in line with company policy.
• Updating Records: Ensuring all payroll data, including pension contributions and employee changes, are correctly recorded.
• Assisting with Pensions: Understanding and helping to process pension enrolments, contributions, and communications.
• Using Excel: Inputting, reviewing, and formatting payroll data using Excel with accuracy and confidence.
• Supporting the Payroll Team: Providing general administrative support as needed across payroll functions.
Skills & Qualifications
• A relevant qualification or coursework in payroll, finance, or business (desirable).
• Some experience in an administrative, finance, or payroll support role (entry-level applicants welcome).
• Good working knowledge of pensions and payroll basics.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel (formulas, formatting, and data management).
• Strong numerical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
• Well-organised, reliable, and eager to learn.
