Payroll Manager – EMEA – Remote UK

Across the data center industry – from deployment, through operations and maintenance, to decommissioning – Salute is the industry leader of delivering global data center services executed with precision

Our Salute Finance leadership team, are looking for an experienced Payroll Manager to lead our EMEA payroll operations. This is a role for someone who enjoys ownership, thrives in complexity, and wants to make a real impact on how payroll is delivered across multiple countries.

At our company, payroll isn’t just about processing numbers — it’s about trust, accuracy, and service. You’ll work closely with HR, Finance, managers, and employees across the EMEA region, ensuring everyone is paid correctly, on time, and in line with local regulations. If you enjoy balancing strategic oversight with hands-on involvement, this role is for you.

How we operate:

In many organisations, payroll is highly transactional — follow the calendar, process the data, and move on. Decisions are escalated, systems are rigid, and improvement comes slowly.

We work differently. Our Payroll Manager takes ownership of the end-to-end EMEA payroll function. That means leading vendor relationships, making judgement calls when priorities shift, improving processes proactively, and ensuring payroll scales smoothly as the business grows.

This role will be a great fit if you like:

  • Owning multi-country payroll operations across EMEA and being accountable for accuracy, compliance, and delivery.
  • Working closely with HR, Finance, and senior leaders as a trusted payroll subject matter expert.
  • Using systems like ADP and ADP Celergo to improve controls, reporting, and efficiency.
  • Leading payroll system implementations or migrations from planning to execution.
  • Driving improvements and automation rather than maintaining business as usual.

The role may not be a fit if:

  • You prefer a purely transactional payroll role with limited ownership.
  • You’re uncomfortable managing payroll complexity across multiple countries.
  • You prefer fixed processes without improvement.
  • You don’t enjoy stakeholder or vendor management.

On a regular basis, you will:

  • Own and manage end-to-end EMEA payroll operations.
  • Ensure accurate, compliant, and timely payroll delivery.
  • Ensure that all payroll liabilities, including taxes and related items, are paid on time.
  • Act as the primary payroll escalation point for EMEA.
  • Manage ADP and ADP Celergo payroll operations.
  • Lead payroll implementations and migrations.
  • Oversee payroll data governance and controls.
  • Approve payroll outputs, bank files, and filings.
  • Partner with Finance on reconciliations, audits, and SOX.
  • Resolve discrepancies through root-cause analysis.
  • Consolidate and report payroll data across EMEA.
  • Oversee employee expense processing.
  • Develop and coach payroll team members.
  • Manage vendor and authority relationships.

Skills and experience you will bring:

  • Payroll Manager experience with EMEA responsibility.
  • Strong ADP and ADP Celergo expertise.
  • Payroll system migration experience.
  • European payroll compliance knowledge.
  • SOX and audit experience.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills.

The interview process:

Our process includes an initial TA conversation, two structured leadership interviews, and a final stakeholder discussion.

Why join us:

You’ll join a collaborative environment where payroll is treated as a strategic function with real regional impact.
